Review: Meditations
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Beautiful and ageless. These writings were apparently never intended to be published or to convince anyone in anything. That’s why they may sometimes seem redundant and often lack explicit argumentation. In any case, beneath these notes transpires a sober, noble, and, admittedly, sometimes a bit troubled man who is able to use his great intelligence and force of character to achieve freedom in a world that’s difficult to understand and may feel overwhelming at times. I read the Meditations almost in one go, and I feel that I will return to them often in the future.
